Prepaid Wireless Phones

Prepaid Wireless

There are many reasons why consumers find prepaid wireless phones to be a smart choice. These reasons include:

not having a monthly bill or long-term contract

wanting to closely budget monthly usage for themselves or other family members

not wanting to deal with the hassle of a credit check

Fortunately most of the major wireless carriers in the United States realize the benefits of prepaid plans and have one form of prepaid wireless plan or another. This provides you, the consumer, with a wide variety of options. Three of the most popular prepaid service providers are GoPhone from Cingular Wireless, TracFone and MetroPCS.

Cingular GoPhone Prepaid Wireless Service

GoPhone provides the greatest breadth by offering three prepaid plan options:

An unlimited mobile-to-mobile plan with a low daily access charge. Included is free calling to other Cingular subscribers with a low per minute charge to anyone else.

A simple flat rate plan for all calls with only a per minute fee.

A more traditional monthly package with a preset number of included minutes but without the long-term contract.

With any of the three plans, you can easily add to your balance on-line or by contacting customer service.

TracFone Prepaid Wireless Service

TracFone has perhaps the simplest and most straightforward plan of any provider. With TracFone there are no daily or monthly fees. You simply purchase an airtime card for a predetermined number of minutes and when that time allotment is used up (or nearing it) purchase another card at one of over 60,000 retailers nationwide to add more minutes to your phone. And as long as your service is active your minutes will not expire. This makes TracFone a good choice for anyone looking for prepaid service and especially for those who expect to use less than 150 minutes or so a month.

Metro PCS Prepaid Wireless

The approach to prepaid taken by MetroPCS is the opposite to that of TracFone. MetroPCS offers flat-rate, unlimited calling plans that place no limits on the number of minutes that you can talk each month. Similar to other prepaid plans, MetroPCS service is month-to-month and you are not required to sign a contract. For the person who talks a lot each month and likes the flexibility of a plan that can be cancelled at anytime, MetroPCS is the ideal solution.
