Everything Wireless

Everything Wireless

The concept of wireless certainly is simple enough - use low powered radio waves to transfer information from one point to another. In fact, wireless technology has been around in one form or another for nearly a hundred years. However, it has taken recent advances in microprocessor and transceiver technology to make wireless devices practical and affordable. These technological breakthroughs, along with the desire of individuals to have more freedom in the way in which they both work and play, has led to explosion of wireless products for the home, the office and everywhere in between.

Wireless Computing

A wireless network consists of a wireless router, which among other things, coordinates the traffic to and from a high speed internet connection. Any computer which wishes to access this internet connection must have a network card installed. If access to the wireless router is made available to the public (often for a fee), it is commonly referred to as a WiFi hotspot. Such access is often available in coffee shops, hotels and airports. The more common application for a wireless network, however, is one set up for individual use in and around a home. With a wireless home network the wireless router and all devices on the network are under the control of that single user. A home network typically consists of one or more computers, along with additional devices such as a printer or even a TiVo unit. The popularity of wireless home networks is due in large part to the fact they allow multiple computers anywhere in the house to share a single internet connection without the need to use wires.

For those with a need for a reliable, high speed internet connection, but are constantly on the go, wireless broadband offers the perfect solution. No need to hunt for a WiFi hotspot when you need access to the internet for your laptop because with wireless broadband you have nearly ubiquitous access across the country at speeds similar to DSL.

Wireless Phones

The current selection of wireless phones offered by the top manufacturers has never been stronger. Battery life and reception continue to improve, while new features like built-in cameras and games have combined to make wireless phones more indispensable than ever before. On top of that, the packages for wireless phone service are including exciting new features like mobile web access, downloadable ringtone and games, along with larger coverage areas and more airtime in many cases.

Wireless Products for the Home

Wireless products such as wireless headsets, wireless headphones and wireless speakers all provide the flexibility to make your home a more enjoyable place to be while other products such as wireless cameras can help to make it a safer place as well.
